Our Role

The Last Mile of Every Utility Program

Utility rebate programs succeed or fail at the community level. Designing a program is one thing — getting products installed in real homes, educating residents about their options, and reaching underserved populations is another challenge entirely.

SMG Conservation bridges that gap. We deploy field teams, coordinate with local partners, and run the logistics of community engagement so utilities can meet their DSM targets without building the infrastructure themselves.

What We Deliver

Community Program Services

From single-day direct-install events to multi-year neighborhood outreach campaigns, we deliver the full spectrum of community engagement services utilities need.

01

Direct Install Programs

Our field teams visit homes and businesses to install pre-qualified energy efficiency products on the spot — no rebate paperwork required for the resident. We handle scheduling, installation, documentation, and rebate submission end-to-end.

  • Turnkey scheduling and field team deployment
  • Same-day installation of lighting, weatherization, and water conservation products
  • Rebate documentation completed at point of install
  • Post-install verification and reporting to utility

02

Community Education & Outreach

We design and deliver education campaigns that help residents understand their energy use, available rebates, and how to take action. Campaigns are tailored to the utility's service territory, language demographics, and program goals.

  • Multilingual outreach materials and field staff
  • Community event coordination and tabling
  • Digital and print campaign development
  • Rebate enrollment assistance at point of contact

Equity & Low-Income Program Delivery

Income-qualified programs require a different approach — deeper trust-building, coordination with social service agencies, and program designs that remove financial barriers entirely. Our team brings specialized expertise in delivering equity-focused programs that meet LIHEAP, WAP, and state PUC requirements.

  • Income qualification screening and documentation
  • Partnership with community action agencies and nonprofits
  • No-cost product installation for eligible households
  • Compliance reporting for LIHEAP, WAP, and state equity mandates
